JR East Tazawako station
Tazawako station, and was renamed to its current name in 1966 (Showa 41) when the entire line between Morioka and Omagari stations was opened. The current station building, which was renovated in 1997 to coincide with the opening of the Akita Shinkansen, features a design that makes extensive use of glass windows so that trains arriving at the platform can be seen from various locations within the station, and won the Good Design Award in 1998.

御座石神社の名前は、慶安3年（1650年）に秋田藩主の佐竹義隆公が田沢湖を巡覧した際、ここに腰掛けて休んだことに由来しています。 朱塗りの鳥居のそばには、一本の木から七種類の異なる木が生えている「七彩の木」や、たつこ姫が飲んで龍になったと言われる「たつこの霊泉」、そしてたつこの姿を映した「鏡石」などの名所があります。 バスはここで10分間停車します。

昼食後、田沢湖畔からは二通りの行き方があります。 一つは田沢湖駅に戻るバス、もう一つは秘湯として名高い乳頭温泉郷行きです。 もし時間に余裕があれば、ぜひ乳頭温泉郷で温泉に浸かり、旅の疲れを癒していただきたいです。
