The unique cobalt blue water surface of the Tamagawa River system

Submerged forest at Lake Akiogi (Yoroihata Dam Lake)

In the snowy region, meltwater overflows in the spring. Lake Akiogi stretches along National Route 341, and in May, meltwater is released downstream to be used in the rice fields. As the water level changes, a "submerged forest" appears, and the trees that are usually submerged in the cobalt blue lake sprout new leaves on the surface, creating a mystical landscape for about a month until mid-June.
