Kakunodate Samurai Residences Street

Matsumotoke

Akita Prefecture designated tangible cultural property The family is a subordinate to the Imamiya family, and came to Akita when the Satake clan was transferred to another domain. The house has a simple structure with two gateposts and a fence around it. The house, which has a bedroom in a separate building, is said to have been built around the end of the Edo period. The thatched roof still retains the atmosphere of a samurai residence, and today itaya craftsmanship demonstrations are held here from spring to autumn.
