Reviving a cultural heritage: Kakunodate's iconic samurai residence
You can enjoy a wide range of free historical experiences, and you can even wear armor for a fee.
You can take photos inside the beautiful mansion and stroll through the samurai residence street. Kimono rental is also popular (fees apply, reservations required).
Located on the grounds of the Aoyagi family home, this teahouse offers popular Nanbancha tea brewed with Shinmei water, as well as matcha. The first floor is a shop (credit cards and electronic money accepted), and the second floor is an antique museum.
