Reviving a cultural heritage: Kakunodate's iconic samurai residence

Kakunodate Historical Village Aoyagi House

The Aoyagi family samurai residence tells the story of 400 years of Michinoku history. In addition to the main house, the 10,000m2 (approx. 10,000m2) grounds, filled with flowers and plants, contain six museums, including an armory and the Kaitai Shinsho Memorial Museum, where swords are exhibited and local experiences are also held. There are also plenty of cafes, restaurants, and shops, so there is no end to the fascinating things to do. The guided tour of the main house, which is not open to the public, is also popular. Enjoy a journey through history that you can experience and touch with your own hands.
