Tsurunoyu Onsen

鶴の湯温泉

Tsurunoyu Onsen is one of the eight inns in the Nyuto-Onsenkyo at the foot of Mt.nyuto (1,478m), and is the oldest hot spring inn in the area.
It is said that the second lord of the Akita domain, Satake Yoshitaka, visited Tsuru no Yu for a hot spring cure in 1638 (Kan'ei 15), and the lord of the Kameda domain, Iwaki Genba, visited Tsuru no Yu for a hot spring cure in 1661. Records of the inn catering to the general public date back to the Genroku period (1688-1704).

The name of Tsuru no Yu is said to have come from a local hunter, Kansuke, who noticed a wounded crane healing in the hot springs while hunting, and so the name remained.

Spring quality: sodium bicarbonate and hydrogen sulfide salt spring
Efficacy: Hypertension, arteriosclerosis, peripheral circulatory disorders, rheumatism, diabetes, chilblains, eczema, etc.
There are also white hot springs, black hot springs, and waterfall hot springs, all with different spring qualities.
