What is Tazawako?
Tazawako is a nearly circular lake with a circumference of 20 km, the depth of 423.4 m is the deepest in Japan, and an area of 25.5 km2. The lake water is beautiful with a mysterious light color, befitting the legend of Tatsuko. Each of the four seasons has a rich expression, with the pale light of spring shining on the surface of the lake, and the deep green and blue of the sky enveloping the surface of the lake in summer. In autumn, the leaves of the trees reflect on the surface of the lake, and in winter, the contrast between the white snow and the surface of the lake is impressive. The sunrises and sunsets are also spectacular, especially on quiet mornings when the surface of the lake becomes like a mirror and reflects the sunrise dazzlingly.
