Kakunodate area

A castle town where the atmosphere of the Edo period still remains. This is a beautiful area with historic samurai residences and rows of cherry blossom trees, mainly weeping cherry trees. You can enjoy strolling around the town and sampling Akita cuisine.

Lake Tazawa area

This area is rich in nature and includes a variety of hot spring resorts, centered around Lake Tazawa, Japan's deepest and most azure lake. You can enjoy a combination of seasonal activities, hidden hot springs, and spectacular tourist spots.

Nishiki Area

A simple and welcoming area with rural landscapes reminiscent of Japan’s traditional scenery. Visitors can enjoy farm experiences, seasonal cultural events, and traditional activities. A trip on the local Akita Nairiku Line is also highly recommended.

Surrounding Areas

Surrounding municipalities that are well worth visiting when you venture a little farther. In the neighboring city of Daisen, you’ll find sake breweries such as Suzuki Shuzō and several roadside stations. You can also explore Kita-Akita City along the Akita Nairiku Line.
