Kakunodate Samurai Residences Street

Kawaradake

河原田家(かわらだけ)

Semboku City designated historic site

The family was a hereditary descendant of the Ashina clan dating back to their Aizu days, and later served the Satake Kita clan.
The mansion retains the architectural style of a samurai residence from the Edo period, with the main room retaining the Shoin-zukuri style that is unique to this region.
Within the grounds, large trees such as Shidarezakura trees, fir trees, katsura trees, pines, and ginkgo trees are planted, and the moss covering the ground is likened to flowing water, so the entire garden can be enjoyed as a landscape painting.
