The Little New Year event " Kakunodate's Hiburi-Kamakura " held in Kakunodate Town, Semboku City is a fantastical festival where magnificent rings of fire dance in the snow. The rings of fire that form one after the other transport you to a fairy tale world on a winter night.
The festival begins with putting firewood into a hearth made from snow and burning it. Then, a tenhitsu (a wooden brush) made of rice straw wrapped around a long tree about three meters tall and set on fire in the snow, is set on fire and New Year's pine decorations and other decorations are burned, and prayers are made for safety in the year ahead.
The fire shaker ties a rope about one meter long to a sack of charcoal, lights the sack on fire from the hearth, and then holds the end of the rope and swings it around his or her body, praying for good health and safety in the home.
At the Reiwa Hiburi-Kamakura, tourists are scheduled to have the opportunity to experience Hiburi at the following main venues:

The "Akita Prefecture Southern Winter Festival Stamp Rally 2025" will be held, visiting seven winter festivals in the southern region of Akita Prefecture (Daisen City, Semboku City, Misato Town, Yokote City, and Yuzawa City).
If you collect two or more stamps and submit an application, 24 people will be selected by lottery to win local specialties from southern Akita Prefecture.
In Semboku City , the events include the paper balloon launch at Kamihinokinai on February 10th and the Hiburi-Kamakura in Kakunodate on February 14th.

On the following dates, we plan to set up a snow slide and a snow park that parents and children can enjoy in the plaza in front of the Kakunodate Kabazaiku Densyokan.
The Tourism Association and Chamber of Commerce will provide free food and drinks (such as sweet sake).
