Semboku City

Semboku City is located in the central eastern part of Akita Prefecture and is adjacent to Iwate Prefecture. Lake Tazawa, which has the deepest water depth in Japan, is located in the center, and opens up to Mt. Akita Komagatake in the east, Hachimantai in the north, and the Semboku Plain in the south, known as a part of Towada-Hachimantai National Park. About 80% (892.05 square kilometers) of the area is forest, and the river flowing from the Ou Mountains is the water source of the Semboku area. In winter, the average temperature is below freezing in all regions. Please enjoy our traditional culture, food and festivals.
