They were senior vassals of the Ashina clan, and after the Ashina clan died out, the family served the Satake Kita clan.
The house was remodeled at the end of the Edo period, and the roof was changed from thatched to wooden shingles, resulting in its current form. As a house of a middle-ranking samurai in Kakunodate, the layout and other aspects remain typical of the house. The symbol of the house is an oak tree that is estimated to be around 300 years old.
