Historic tradition

Nishine Sasara

The origin dates back to the Genbun year 260 years ago, and it is said that Iwami, a resident of Iwami in Akigawa Toshima-gun (now Kawabe, Akita City), liked this dance and encouraged it throughout his family. Michihiro Abe and others received the tradition and spread it, and about 220 years ago, a person named Hikokichi Asari of Nishine Ozawa was the first master of the lion dance because his father's left gate was born in Iwami Village. It is recorded that the young people in the village were danced.
